Sun Waelty Auto Service Corp Since 1948

Before he was old enough to drive, Ed Sunday purchased his first car which began his life-long love affair with moving machinery. This love affair has led him from working in, and managing gas stations in three states, to returning to Southern California and learning the auto air conditioning business, and to finally realizing his dream of owning his own repair shop in 1977 in the beautiful Sierra foothills of Sonora, CA.  Originally "Sun Automotive" the business opened in a rented metal building in East Sonora.  Being in a location that was hard to find, when the opportunity arrived, Ed moved the business to Sonora in another rented facility on Shepherd Street.  In 1987, he teamed up with Phil Waelty and "Sun-Waelty" was born. 

When the current Washington Street facility became available, the partners pooled their resources and moved into the building where it remains today.  Jaimie Valadez joined as partner in 2008 (he will likely be the one you speak with when you call) and he is the one who keeps the front office, scheduling, staff assignments and other "duties as required" humming.  

All-in-all, we are humbled by the loyalty of our customers over the years.  We never tire of this community and to that end, will continue to support its local charities and outreaches that serve and benefit the people of the Mother Lode.   Thank you!
